私の時間は、みんなの時間です。
ゴリラたちはいつもいつも一緒にいる。 食べる時も、休む時も、歩いて移動するときも。
ひとたび群れを離れたゴリラは、ふたたび戻ることはない。
言葉をもたないゴリラは、不在の時間を仲間に伝えることができない。だから、一緒にいて、日々起こる出来事をともに体験することで、仲間であるというつながりの意識を保っているのだという。
言葉が言葉になるのは
一方、人間は不在のときを「言葉」で埋めることができる。食卓を囲み、子どもたちが学校で起こった出来事を熱心に話せば、一緒にいなかった時間の体験をともにすることができる。
ゴリラは体験を交わし、人は言葉を交わすことで、絆や温もりを感じることができる。
でも、今、人間がかわしている言葉は、不在を埋め、絆や温もりを感じられる言葉になっているだろうか。言葉が言葉になるのは、その向こうに人がいるときだけだ。受け取る相手がいなければ、言葉はいつまでも独りぼっちのままなのだ。

GORIFULL 054 | My time is everyone’s time.
Gorillas are always, always together. When eating, when resting, when walking to move. Once a gorilla leaves the troop, it never returns.
Gorillas, having no language, cannot tell their companions about the time they were absent. Therefore, by being together and sharing the experiences of each day, they maintain a sense of connection as companions.
When words become words
Humans, on the other hand, can fill the time of absence with “words.” Gathered around the dinner table, children eagerly recounting events from school allows us to share in the experiences of the time we weren’t together.
Gorillas share experiences, and humans share words—both ways allow us to feel bonds and warmth. Are the words humans exchange today truly filling absences, allowing us to feel bonds and warmth? Words only become words when there is a person on the other side.
Without someone to receive them, words remain forever alone.
